The Best Ways To Watch Your Weight Over The Holidays

By Nickolas Salgado

Losing weight during the holiday season can seem almost impossible with all of the activities and temptations. From the middle of Autumn to the end of the year, we're surrounded by food. It starts with the Halloween candy, peaks with Thanksgiving dinner and then comes to a resounding finish with Christmas dinner (if you celebrate Christmas) and a nice encore of hors d'oeuvres at New Years Eve parties. Wherever you go, the calories follow! So how do you watch your weight or even, miracle of miracles, lose weight? Believe it or not, it's possible to lose weight or at least not gain any over the holidays; below are some ways to accomplish this.

It only takes some researching into the best methods for dealing with the holidays. If this sounds like something you want to achieve, read on.

When it comes to fattening foods, only take a little. It's okay to see the plate beneath or between your foods. This way you can have some of all of the foods you want to eat without having to worry that you are completely undoing all of the hard work that you have done. Keeping your portions small is a proven technique for any diet, and it's something you have to remember during this challenging season. If you can keep this in mind during the holiday season, you can indulge in anything you want. Many people are in the habit of stuffing themselves to capacity at holiday meals. Sweatpants are popular this time of year, as they can allow us to forget about how our waistlines are expanding. Rather than do this, try doing the opposite -wear clothing that's tight. Get a belt that's tight around your waist and wear it every day. You'll find that the belt will start getting very uncomfortable if you expand at all, which will help motivate you to stay within reasonable limits. Since you won't want to take off your belt in a social situation, this can serve as an effective deterrent against overeating.

While teaming up with someone who's also trying to lose weight is helpful no matter what season it is, during the holidays it can be even more beneficial. If you consider your circle of acquaintances, it's very likely that at least one of them wants to lose weight and would be open to working with you. The two of you can be each others' support when the temptations feel too much. You and your partner can make sure neither of you abandons your efforts. You will have a better chance of succeeding with your holiday weight loss efforts if you have someone to help you plan and stay true to your diet and exercise program.

If you're committed to controlling your weight over the holidays, you can do it. If you want to emerge from the holidays without any extra pounds, you can do so. You can stick to your diet, keep up your weight loss regimen and stay healthy -even while sometimes indulging in tasty treats and decadent holiday meals.
