Using Kettlebell Exercises to Aid in Weight Loss

By Greg Diener

You may have seen the title and though "Huh? What are kettle bells, anyway?" Kettle-bells are those bizarre looking weights that can be mistaken for a bowling ball, except that they have a handle. They come in a number of different weights and sizes, so they are ideal for either the dumbbell professional or someone who has never lifted a weight in their life. They are a great way to work out, especially if you are trying to lose weight. For men, women, a gym novice, or a professional athlete, these exercises are increasing in popularity as an accepted workout exercise.

First and foremost, kettlebell weights are so efficient for weight loss because they are a complete-body workout. It takes a great portion of energy to lift and control a kettlebell, so they don't focus on merely one muscle group; they use your entire body. This notion, in turn, burns more and more calories. The reality that utilizing these weights burns more calories is what makes them work so well as a weight loss exercise.

These weights also aid in weight loss because they are not just a lifting tool. Since they burn calories and get the heart rate going, they are a phenomenal cardio workout as well. Since you get the workout you need in 20-30 minutes instead of the hour you would need to do the same amount of cardio on a treadmill, these dumbbells imposters also aid in weight loss because they don't take up as much of your time as other workouts will. And any routine that is easier to stick with be easier to see results from.

Kettlebells also have science on their side as proof that they are beneficial for weight loss. Kettlebell training empowers you to burn calories not just when you're doing the workout, but afterwards as well. This condition is known as EPOC (Excessive Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption), something that you can only get from extreme, anaerobic workouts. Not many other ways of working out offer as many rewards as kettlebell weights do, and allow you to have so many weight loss benefits.

Kettlebells, the weird looking dumbbells, are becoming more well-liked because of the many benefits they provide. As a weight loss tactic, kettlebell weights are a great option for people who have found weight loss perplexing or tedious with other procedures. Try using kettlebells as a total-body workout; the weight may just drop off quicker than you ever imagined.
