Follow These Rules to Lose Fat and Keep it Off

So many people make the awful mistake of thinking short term goals when it comes to weight loss. They think about that golden number they want to see on the scale, but never think beyond that day. The key to weight loss is really keeping that weight off, and for that you've got to think long term and have a plan.

If you want to lose weight the healthy way, it's best to pass on fad diets. Diets that are extreme in nature are not good for your health. These ubiquitous diets enjoy short-term popularity, but fade just as quickly as they appear. They lose their popularity because, even though they do help you lose weight, they do not enable you to live a healthy lifestyle.

Give yourself an occasional pat on the back. Enjoy a small portion of a favorite treat and then get back to your healthy diet. This does not indicate that you are no longer dieting. This will simply be a treat to give yourself for sticking to your diet and staying on track with your goals. However, rewards should be occasional, not frequent occurrences. Treat your diet like a lifestyle change, not discipline.

The third rule we need to discuss is to make sure you have breakfast that contains a higher amount of protein. Protein keeps you fuller, longer so you won't get hungry and be tempted to have unhealthy snacks that may be laying around the office in vending machines.

Avoid food that is high in fat and limit the amount of sugary drinks you consume. Fast food is a good thing to avoid, many of these items are processed foods and substantially higher in fat than almost anything you make at home. If you must have soda, limit the number you drink.

Now that wasn't so bad was it? Just a few simple, common sense tips that will help you not only lose weight, but help you know what to do in the future to maintain your weight.
