Finally, the Missing Bit of the Dieting Dilemna

By Max Savage

Obesity is a major problem in a number of industrialized countries around the world. In the United States, it is a particularly worrisome situation - research from the CDC reveal that more than 1 in 3 adults and over than 1 in 6 children are obese. These figures have been escalating continuously within the last several years.

Excess fat doesn't just mean we're less good looking. It might be downright unsafe. Diabetes, strokes, and heart problems are only a few of the issues that can come about from unhealthy weight. Needless to say, this isn't great for our financial system either - up to 10% of health care expenses are spent on conditions associated with obesity.

Most of the trouble is caused by our increasingly sedentary lifestyles. Because of improvements in movies, personal computers, and computer games, we often find ourselves stuck to a office chair or a recliner. Combine that with the simple fact that we have a tendency to overeat and eat unhealthy food, and it's quite easy to see why our country is becoming fatter.

Taco Bell didn't make people obese. Nor did television. Preserving our bodies' well being as well as keeping our weights in check is our personal responsibility. It's up to each of us to have adequate nutrition and exercise. If you are overweight, you won't shed weight if you do not take action by going on a reduced calorie eating plan.

All right, assume you've finished a diet and gotten to a healthier weight. You won't want to gain the weight back, but the truth is, you don't want to be counting calories for the rest of your life, so what on earth do you do? The answer for this issue is lifestyle changes. Pinpoint the habits which caused you to end up being overweight to begin with, and deal with them.

As you keep making positive changes to your lifestyle, you'll not just look better, but you'll feel better as well! With a healthier body comes more energy, clearer thoughts, and less health problems. You don't have to be an obsessive calorie-counting health fanatic to be healthy and in shape - you simply need appropriate nutrition and a bit of regular exercise.
